Taking the Kids on a Band Trip
I have been a band instructor at a high school for four years now. It has definitely been a great time for me and it has been very rewarding. I have watched many of these kids grow up and mature into young adults and I would like to think that many of them are my friends - not just students.
Four years ago, as a class, we decided that we would make their last year in band a great one. We decided back then (while involving the parents) that in their final year, we would go on a band trip and play in many cities across the country. This was going to take a lot of fundraising, but we knew we could do it.
Four years later, it is almost a reality. We were not sure that we had enough money saved, but we were able to get a group travel rate that was going to cut our expenses and make the trip a reality.
We will be going for one week in just three short weeks from now. I am excited and so are the kids - we just can’t wait!
